Chris Rugila, Director of Bands
Chris Rugila is a native of Monroe, Michigan. Chris graduated Cum Laude from Eastern Michigan University earning a B.A. in Music Education. While at EMU he performed in the Symphonic Band, Wind Symphony, Marching Band, Symphony Orchestra, Collegium Musicum, and the Huron River Brass Quintet.
Previously he was the Director of Bands at Blythewood High School in Blythewood, SC, South Mecklenburg High School in Charlotte, NC, and Decatur High School and Decatur Middle School in Decatur, MI. Under his direction, his bands have consistently earned superior ratings in both concert band and marching band festivals. Most recently the Blythewood High School Blue Legion Marching Band was named the 2013 SC 4A Lower State Champion and the 2013 SC 4A Silver Medalist at SCBDA State Championships.
In addition to his public school experience, Chris spent two years as a performer with the Phantom Regiment Drum and Bugle Corps during the 2003 and 2004 seasons. He began his drum corps instructional career as a brass instructor with the Memphis Sound Drum and Bugle Corps in 2005. He continued on the brass staff at Phantom Regiment during the 2008 and 2009 seasons. In 2011 he was a member of the administration team at Carolina Crown. He has been on the brass staff for the Blue Stars since 2013.

Jared McEntyre, Associate Director of Bands
Jared McEntyre joined the staff at Klein Collins High School as the Assistant Band Director in 2012. He holds a Bachelor of Music and a Master of Music Performance from West Texas A&M University. There, he was a member of the trumpet studio with Dr. William Takacs. During his time at WT, he was a member of the Symphonic Band, Jazz Band, the Symphony Orchestra, and The Sound of West Texas marching band. In 2006 and 2007, he marched trumpet with the Blue Knights Drum and Bugle Corps. He studied with Don Lefevre while working on his degree in Conducting Performance and was a conductor of the WT Wind Ensemble for two seasons.
At Klein Collins, Mr. McEntyre is the primary director of the Symphonic Band and assists the marching band and other concert ensembles. He is also the teacher of the AP Music Theory class. Before teaching at Klein Collins, he was a private lesson teacher in the Spring area and also taught beginning band in Amarillo, Tx before making the move to Spring in 2011.
In May of 2016, he and his wife, Katie, welcomed their first son, Finn. He enjoys spending time with his family, playing trumpet, and reading. Mr. McEntyre strongly believes in students continuing to be involved in music after they graduate and currently enjoys playing in the Woodlands Concert Band, a community band in The Woodlands, TX.

Bryce Swift, Assistant Director of Bands
Bryce Swift is a music educator and saxophone player from Bedford, Texas. Mr. Swift graduated from Baylor University in the Fall of 2015 with a bachelor’s degree in Music Education. During his time at Baylor, he studied saxophone with Dr. Michael Jacobson and flute with Dr. Francesca Arnone.
While at Baylor, Mr. Swift played in the Baylor Symphonic Band, Baylor Jazz Ensembles, the Golden Wave Marching Band, and in pit orchestras for musical productions. Along with these larger ensembles, he also regularly performed with the Heterodyne Saxophone Quartet and the Baylor Flute Choir.
Outside of Baylor, Mr. Swift maintained a private studio of middle school and high school woodwind players in Midway ISD and Troy ISD with many of his students placing in region and area bands. He spent the summer of 2015 working as an administrative assistant for the Blue Stars Drum & Bugle Corps from LaCrosse, Wisconsin as they competed across the US.
His professional affiliations include Texas Music Educators Association, Texas Bandmasters Association, and Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia. Mr. Swift is thrilled to be part of Klein Collins and Klein ISD!

Lauretta Main, Percussion Director
Lauretta Main has been the Percussion Director for the Klein Collins Band since 2012 and served as Assistant Percussion Director for 2 years before that. Previously, she was the percussion instructor for Venice High School in Venice, FL.
Lauretta graduated Cum Laude from Ithaca College with a Bachelor’s of Music in Percussion Performance. While there, she was a member of the Symphonic Band, Wind Ensemble, Symphony Orchestra, Percussion Ensembles, Steel Bands, Fife and Drums Corps, the Vocal Jazz Ensemble, the Tuesday/Thursday Jazz Lab, and Gordon Stout’s Marimba Band. Her studies were under Conrad Alexander, Steve Brown, and Gordon Stout.
In addition to her teaching, Lauretta spent 2 years working for Royal Caribbean International as the Orchestra drummer aboard several ships all over the world. She currently actively plays around the greater Houston area. She is an active member of TMEA, TBA and PAS and the Vic Firth Education Team.

Anna Rugila, Visual Coordinator
Anna Rugila comes to Klein Collins High School all the way from Charlotte, North Carolina. She studied French horn at the beautiful Western Carolina University in Cullowhee, North Carolina. While there she was a member of the Pride of the Mountains marching band and was also a member of the Eta Theta chapter of Sigma Alpha Iota Music Fraternity.
After college, Anna worked with several Charlotte area bands in various capacities from 2006 to 2013. She worked as a high brass technician, a visual technician, a visual coordinator, and also as the Assistant Director of the South Mecklenburg Sabre Regiment Marching band.
When she wasn’t teaching marching band, Anna was working with Carolina Crown Drum Corps in Fort Mill, SC. For five years, she had the privilege of being on the administrative team for the drum corps as well as for their indoor winterguard, CrownGUARD, in 2009 and 2010.
Anna worked with the Blythewood High School Blue Legion in 2013 on their visual and design staff. That year the band went on to be the South Carolina 4A Lower State Champions and winning the silver medal in class 4A SC State Championships. Anna also worked with the Carolina Winter Ensemble Association in various roles in 2014 season.
After moving to Texas in the summer of 2014 with her husband and two little girls, Anna now enjoys life as Visual Coordinator for the Klein Collins Tiger Band. She is also a freelance visual coordinator/designer with several bands across the country. She enjoys serving the Tiger Band by working with the directors and students to help develop and expand the visual program for the marching band. Anna also works as a visual instructor for the ensemble.
